We are “Safe Flight Drones” an aerial data acquisition service. We provide clients with high quality aerial photography, video, 2D & 3D mapping. Today “data” is everything and acquiring accurate data requires the right tool for the job. When we hear the word “drone” we think of some form of a “remote controlled aircraft.” However, drones are revolutionizing the way work is performed across many industries. Aerial drones can make many jobs much safer and acquire more accurate data much faster. The applications of drones are vast from structural inspections, power & energy, public safety, infrastructure & utility and the list keeps growing.
We are professional commercial drone pilots and we utilize the latest in drone technology and state of the art video & imaging editing software to deliver the best quality and most accurate data to our clients.
Let me introduce myself,
I am Richard Smith Jr owner & Chief Operations Manager at Safe Flight Drones. I personally oversee every project/mission. I have over 10 years’ experience as a professional photographer and 5 years as remote pilot flying aerial drones. I have extensive skills in image editing using the amazing Adobe CC & Blackmagic Design editing software.
We offer a “no hassle” policy. The client will describe their need or project and we will take care of the rest. We plan out the project, access risks, check airspace and regulations and determine the best way to safely complete the project. Once approved by the client we complete the mission and deliver high resolution images, video or map data. We do all editing in house for fast & efficient turn around and to protect the privacy of your data.

How it Started
Never Ending Journey
I started off in the photography industry as a portrait photographer and soon moved into the world of editing using Adobe Photoshop. I soon realized modern photography & digital editing was a fast paced and ever evolving endless journey. There is always something new to learn and this keeps us fresh and, on our toes, as we are always moving forward with business & clients. Soon I moved into the world of cinema cameras and video editing. I have become very proficient at editing video using both Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve as well as Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
Like most everyone I first heard of “drones” as something the military used in battle. It wasn’t long before the word “drone” was used in the realm of photography & video. I jumped into the done world. Soon after I became a licensed commercial remote aircraft pilot. Continuing to move forward I became a certified level 1 thermographer. I continue to monitor the ever-changing FAA requirements, law changes and regulations.
